Nordstrom Rack to open first N.C. store in Durham

Seattle-based Nordstrom, Inc. announced plans to open its first Nordstrom Rack in North Carolina. The new 33,000-square-foot store will be located at Renaissance Center in Durham. The store is expected to open in fall 2010.

The center is located across the street from Nordstrom’s full-line store at The Streets at Southpoint, which opened seven years ago.

  1. Hi Steven,

Saw the site that you put together on Ivey's. Great site! Just wanted to know if you have any information on the Ivey's? Is George M. Ivey, Jr. still alive? I am from Charlotte and I worked for Ivey's when I was in high school some 30 years ago. Just wondered what happened to the family. I know there was a daughter by the name of Kit Katherine? Ivey Ward. Think that this might make a good article. Where are they now?
    Thanks,

  2. Thanks for the compliments! It's great to hear that Ivey's was as wonderful to work for as it was to shop in. Mr. Ivey was recently honored an an event in Chapel Hill, so he's alive. Ms. Ward is still alive as well. I don't have any contact information for either party, unfortunately.
