Lebron's shoes cause a frenzy in Shaker Square

SHAKER HEIGHTS -- People from around the world flocked to Cleveland to wait days in line, in the pouring rain, for shoes!

But, these aren’t just any shoes.

They came from different parts of the country, including Denver, Colorado and Rozwell, Georgia. They all came for the same reason.

“For sneakers,” said one person. “They love sneakers.”

The new sneaker is called the “Lebron James Chamber of Fear.”

And what exactly is that?

“It’s just a limited edition of shoes from the ‘Lebron James Chamber of Fear’ that went to five different cities,” explained Marvin Blythewood, Cleveland.

The new shoe that came out in Cleveland is a combination of black patent, white and green leathers. And you’ll only find them at “Next Urban Apparel” in Shaker Square.

“It’s only being released here in Lebron James’ hometown,” said Dee Wells, Shoe Collector Magazine.

That’s why DQ flew all the way from Denver to sit outside the store for four days. He wanted to be first in line.

“The first couple of days people think you’re a bum or something,” said Denver resident, DQ. “Then, the line starts forming. So, it’s actually part of the experience that makes it fun.”

Some people, like Arthur Valdez of Georgia, want the sneakers so badly they dragged their pets, and even their babies, along for the wait.

“They came out with interesting custom shoes for each city and if you’re not there, or you’re willing to pay big bucks, that’s the only way you’ll get them,” said Valdez.

Now some people collect the shoes for the love of the shoes, while other people collect the shoes because it’s big business.

“I could probably put ‘em on eBay right now and get $400 for them,” said Valdez

But, how about $9,000? That’s how much one lot of Lebron James shoes is listed for on eBay.

And Bobby Lee is the guy who listed them. He was second in line outside the “Next” store in Shaker Square. Lee says Lebron’s shoes could go on sale for $400.

The shoes are limited to just one pair per person. They’re sure to go fast, because there are only 300 pairs for sale.
