another two bite the dust

There's a couple fewer shipping choices in metro TimCity. Righ after the company opened a flagship Proffitt's at Riverchase Galleria (see post), Saks Inc. said Monday it will close its Eastwood Mall Parisian store in January, ending speculation on when the Birmingham, Alabama-based retailer would leave the near-dead shopping center.

In an unexpected move, Birmingham-based Saks, which operates several department store chains including Saks Fifth Avenue and McRae's, also announced plans to close its Western Hills Parisian in mid-March. That store had been recently converted into a Parisian from a McRae's by the company.
