Pharrell Drops Reebok, Says Gear Not Hot

A year after inking a deal with Reebok, Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes is suing the sneaker titan for $4 million -claiming that they breached their contract.

Williams, who entered a deal with Reebok to manufacture his Billionaire Boys Club clothing line and Ice Cream footwear, filed a suit in a New York court just before Christmas. Pharrell is accusing the sneaker company of failing to produce products that satisfied BBC's "approval standards."

"In January 2004, only a few months after the execution of the agreement, certain Reebok personnel began to acknowledge to BBC that Reebok could not adequately produce the full range of licensed products. In a manner consistent with the design and quality standards and specifications required by BBC," the lawsuit alleges. "Reebok repeatedly assured BBC that the non-conforming and disapproved aspects of these samples would be corrected. Reebok, however, failed to correct these deficiencies."
