Nordstrom plans to open a store at the Waterside Shops at Pelican Bay, in Naples, Fla., furthering redevelopment efforts at the 260,000-square-foot open-air center.
Seattle-based Nordstrom says it plans to open the two-level, 80,000-square-foot store in the fall of 2007 or spring of 2008. The new store will join Saks Fifth Avenue as anchor of the 45-store regional center, which opened in 1992.
“This new and smaller store will give us an opportunity to have a more focused approach, providing a merchandise mix unique to our customers in Naples,” said Erik Nordstrom, the retailer's executive vice president of full-line stores, in a press release.
Taubman Centers and the Orlando, Fla.–based Forbes Co., the center's owners, are spending $25 million on a renovation that will add such posh retailers as Burberry, Gucci and Tiffany & Co.
