Customer reactions according to a national survey of 1,000 consumers conducted by Charleston, S.C.-based America's Research Group. Responses are from customers who live near a store owned by May Department Stores Co., parent of Hecht's, Filene's, Marshall Field's and other names that are changing to Macy's this year:
78 Percentage who say changing the name to Macy's is OK or they like it
68 Percentage who feel a change to Macy's merchandise is positive
21 Percentage of Marshall Field's customers who don't like the changes
6 Percentage of Hecht's customers who don't like the changes
