Belk to buy Parisian?

According to unnamed sources, Charlotte, N.C.-based Belk, Inc. has apparently entered into an agreeement to purchase a majority of the assets of Parisian, a specialty department store chain based in Birmingham, Ala. from Saks, Incorporated.

Terms were not released, and neither company has officially announced the deal.

Further information on the sale will be proviuded as it becomes available.

  1. Really, I'm torn. I hate to see Parisian go, but it could certainly be in worse hands than Belk.

  2. I noticed. in fact, I'm in a bit of a fight with some posters over on UrbanPlanet over how this isn't the end of the freakin' world.

  3. I know they all seem like they've got a boot up their asses about this. ;)

  4. Parisian meant a lot to a lot of people, but after we've lost so many quality department stores that were more distinctive, this seems like crying over spilt milk more than anything.
