Sneaker collector finds sole mate

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (UPI) -- A Colorado couple say their hobby as sneaker collectors makes them a perfect fit.

Inside Ken and Nicole Toledo's home in Lakewood are racks and racks of shoes.

Ken Toledo has 550 pairs of athletic shoes -- Adidas with Goodyear-like tread; silver Pumas that resemble an astronaut's boots; and camouflage-toed Nikes, the Denver Post reported.

Add to those the 350 pairs that belong to his wife.

"I don't think the relationship would work if my wife didn't have a thing for shoes, too," said 30-year-old Toledo, a manager at a metro-area shoe store.

Toledo says, he's not a "sneakerhead" -- shorthand for a shoe fanatic who collects every style and brand imaginable, saves original boxes and plans to sell them for hundreds of dollars in profit on the Internet.

He calls himself a "sneaker connoisseur" -- Toledo's in-laws call the couple the "Shoe-ledos."

His wife doesn't mind. "How many men can you take shoe shopping?" said Nicole Toledo. "It's great. I'm in the women's section, and he takes the men's."

  1. To each his own I guess...whatever floats their "boats."

Do you think they partake in any kinky shoe-oriented sex? OK, my mind has drifted far into the gutter!

  2. It hadn't crossed my mind previously, but you never know. From my research on the internet, there are two kinds of shoe collectors out there: those that like shoes and those who *like like* shoes. LOL

Happily a member of the former, though a girl with a big shoe collection would be a turn-on, just as long as we didn't have sex with them ;-)
