This is Wal-Mart's latest pilot store, featuring upscale design and a new look. The 203,091-sq.-ft. Wal-Mart Supercenter carries about 1,500 premium items not normally found in typical Wal-Mart stores and includes the company’s only sushi shop. It features an expanded selection of high-end electronics, fine jewelry and produce, and carries hundreds of types of wine ranging up to $500 a bottle.

Read more about the store and check out the photoset.

  1. Some of this store reminds me of the way some of the new stores look that are being built in NC near us. Some of it reminds me of how some have been remodled. All in all it looks good. Do you know offhand if this is the same Walmart that is self sufficient powerwise they were building in TX? (meaning they make all the power they use...plus enough to sell to 20 other homes)

A lot of the pictures showed things that are common in Walmarts everywhere-but some of the departments did look pretty good (especially for a Walmart) Will be interesting to see what gets implimented in other walmarts eventually.

  2. This is a different store than the self-powered one, though I think it's near Plano.

I thought it came out pretty nice for a Wal-Mart. The signage could get dated fast, but it's good-looking.
