2004 as a matrix

I love New York magazine. Every week they do an 'approval matrix' of current events. usually it's very New York and wouldn't be that interesting outside of the Tri-State region, but the year-end one was both very funny and had mass appeal, at least to people in Steve-land. So here goes.
