BAYAMON, Puerto Rico -- Magic Johnson endorsed the NBA dress code among players, saying the move will bolster the league's image.
The new policy stipulates players must dress in "business casual" attire and bans items such as shorts and sunglasses while indoors. The policy also requires players on the bench who are not in uniform to wear sport jackets, shoes and socks.
Some players have criticized the policy, which began this season. The former Los Angeles Lakers star disagreed.
"[It's] good for everybody," Johnson said Saturday, "the image of the league, the image of the guys. And as we get along, a month into the season, nobody will even be talking about it."
Johnson made the comments during a stop in the Puerto Rican capital to promote his new line of sneakers.
