After years of rumors, Crate & Barrel is finally coming to Charlotte.
The popular home furnishings retailer plans on opening a full-size store in the Charlotte area in fall 2006 - which means Charlotte consumers will have access to Crate & Barrel's full line of furniture and home products. The Raleigh store, currently the only other store in the Carolinas, sells housewares and no furniture.
John Ling, a vice president for Crate & Barrel, said Thursday the Charlotte area already has strong catalog and Internet sales.
Ling was in Lincoln County Thursday to open the company's new distribution center. When that facilty expands, it is likely that an outlet store will be included in the expansion, he said. But if that happens, the outlet would likely open in 2008, Ling said.
